Jane Lazenby, founder of Gracie & Co., is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. The concept for Gracie & Co. was developed from both Jane's personal interests and the experience that have helped shape her life.

After giving birth to two healthy baby boys, each of her following three pregnancies ended in miscarriages.

The pain and disappointment that followed each of these miscarriages was eased by thoughtful cards from family and friends. By the grace of God, Jane became pregnant again and this time gave birth to a healthy baby girl. So much of Jane's life was spent raising her children, that it is only natural that their independence has provided a new found time to cultivate her creativity. She has always loved to draw, paint and create various forms of art. Combining her love of drawing and the impact the cards had on her own life, Gracie and Company was born.

The Bible verses on each card are meant to share God's love with each person who receives one. Romans 3:24 says, "for we are justified freely by His grace." After reading this verse, the name "Gracie and Company" was conceived.
